Thread

Ah, yet again it has been far too long since my last post. It seemed so easy when I was in Ireland, seeing new places and faces every other day, I had so much to write about and tell everyone! Here in Atlanta things are happening a bit slower, but still happening and I want, and need to write about them.
About four years ago I met Maryn Whitmore (then Maryn Mills) in Athens. I am so grateful to have had the opportunity to take her classes back then, and also still so grateful to have her as a friend and connection in the dance world in Atlanta now! Maryn had this awesome idea to build an outdoor stage in her backyard. This idea was funded and became a reality late this summer - enter Skwhirlhaus! I was so honored when Maryn contacted me and asked if I would like to be a part of the first performance on the Skwhirlhaus stage. The creative process we went through to get to the performance, Thread, was unlike any I had been a part of before - and I loved it! A wonderful group of women from different backgrounds came together through our many common threads. Maryn created a supportive loving communicative atmosphere through our rehearsals, and I think the piece reflected just that. I am so thankful for Skwhirlhaus as a community space as well, we were able to rehearse there for Tara's piece for Art on the Beltline. Being outside, dancing under the trees and stars, is such a wonderful feeling! I am so thankful to be a part of this new and wonderful addition to the Atlanta dance world.
